Me tilattiin Merjan kanssa näkkileipää, suklaata, salmiakkia, kahvia ym suomalaselta sivustolta; suomikauppa.fi, Paketti tuli 2.5 viikon kuluttua tilauksesta.

On Thursday it was party-time again! Even though I hadn’t gone to bed until 3.30am the previous night and I was really tired… But, I had to go, as you don’t survive here with just working, sunbathing and shopping! And we had fun! We went again to the compound, with extreme security, and I had to leave my mobile again, as it containes a camera. The party was on a roof of a villa, with a bar that served real beer and even Finlandia (and Absolut) vodka! Now I’m talking about alcohol again! Plenty of it here, even though it’s forbidden! There was also arabian carpets, that were great to dance on without shoes, to the beats of the DJ. But it was really hot there, around 38 c, even though it was dark already, and we we’re joking about getting some air conditioning. Well, you should watch what you wish for, instead of A/C we got a sandstorm. And a big one this time. First it was totally still, then next minute it was nearly blowing the carpets away! The host suggested that we’d go inside, but everyone wanted to stay on the roof. At least it was cooler now! But when I came home, I had to take a shower. My hair was really hard from the sand and I got a good skin peel. But it wasn’t a nice feeling having your nose and throat full of dust! And, I’d only cleaned a couple of days ago, and now there was a thich layer of dust everywhere! We’re thinking of getting a cleaner…
One of the finns here had gone with a few other female collagues for a lecture that one of their doctors held at the Inter Continental hotel. The lecture had only lasted for about 5 mins, when the police and the muttawa burst into the room. They demanded that the women leave, as they hadn’t been notified of women beeing present. Apparently it should have been done a week in advance. I have no idea what they would have done with the weeks notice. But at least the women got to eat a sponsored dinner before they had to leave…
In early June I have a few days off and if Merja will get some off as well we’re going to Jeddah, by the Red Sea. They have a few hotels there, where women without escort can stay. There’s really good scuba diving and snorkellimg there, as it’s pretty unspolit because of it not beeing so turisty. I didn’t pass my diving course last time in Saudi, because of sinus problems, but will snorkel. I didn’t have any problems scuba-diving in the pool in Riyadh, and the first dive in Jeddah went well. But the second time I couldn’t get deep, because my head hurt too much. But the only dive was great, beautiful scenery and we got to feed bananas to fish underwater!
We ordeded a bunch of Finnish food from a finnish website. It took 2.5 weeks to arrive and the postage was quite expensive, but it was well worth it!
